Just discovered that Hyperion means:
(a)The father of Helios, which also means Sun.
(b)A lesser known titan.

The fact that Angel stays in the Hyperion hotel must mean something, given Hyperion has the qualities of the 'God of Watchfulness and Wisdom'. Also, Angel was in that hotel all the way back in the 50s, so it's been watching over his actions, so to speak. And the Father of the Sun, watching over a vampire. So, okay he has a soul, and a severe guilt complex, but still!
